Roofing specialists for your heritage home
Why getting your roof right matters
Inappropriate materials, wrong underlays, or repairs that look fine on the surface can cause serious structural damage in a heritage property.
Common problems we hear are:
● Roofers using materials that trap moisture rather than letting the building breathe
● Repairs that address the visible symptom but miss the structural issue underneath
● Materials sourced from elsewhere that don’t match or perform the same way
● Work on listed buildings that doesn’t meet conservation requirements
We know it’s difficult choosing the right contractor. Skill level and quotes can vary wildly, and it’s not always obvious whether you’re comparing like for like. That’s why we are fully transparent with our entire process and will talk you through every element of our service and quote.
Our roofing services
A lot of roofing gets subcontracted and this is a major point of difference for us. Our team manages everything directly. This means the same standards, the same communication, and the same management systems whether your roof is a standalone job or part of a larger renovation. You will deal with us from start to finish.

Heritage roof restoration
Repairs and restoration for listed buildings and character properties, using traditional methods and materials. Structural work - rafters, purlins, and trusses can perish over time - what you see on the outside is frequently a symptom of what's happening inside.

Complete re-roofing
Full roof replacement using high-quality, appropriate materials. This is also an opportunity to improve your home's thermal efficiency whilst maintaining the character of the building. We can also replace roofing for more modern builds.

Repair and maintenance
Addressing problems before they escalate can be a smart move. A leaking gutter allows water into the fabric of the building. A few damaged tiles, left too long, can rot the structure beneath. Catching issues early is nearly always cheaper than dealing with the consequences later.

What makes heritage roofs different
Stone slates behave differently to modern tiles, and the structure beneath them needs to be understood.
Where possible, original slates should be salvaged and reused -matching existing materials honours the heritage of the building and maintains its character.
Old buildings also need to breathe. Modern sealed underlays trap moisture inside the roof structure, which causes rot and long-term damage. Heritage properties need materials that let moisture escape naturally, the way these buildings have always worked. The same careful thinking applies to how the roof meets the walls, chimneys, and any original period features.
The most common mistakes we see: poorly dressed stone, low-quality materials, stone sourced from inappropriate locations, and little consideration for whether the structure below will actually hold long-term. Our roofers have spent over 20 years on these properties. We know what works and what causes problems later.
