New Builds

Building new homes with character

We build new homes using natural stone or traditional construction materials, so that you get a house built entirely to your specification with all the character and quality of an older property.

Getting your new build right

Building a brand new home from scratch can be a hugely rewarding experience. Creating a space that works entirely for your needs, where nothing is a compromise, is what many people only dream of.

The challenge is ensuring that it doesn’t end up feeling like every other new build on the market.

That’s where working extensively with older homes has been a game changer. We’ve developed an acute instinct for where character comes from – the materials, the proportions, the details – and how to build it in from the start rather than try to add it as an afterthought.

Our approach to new builds

We know that building a new home is one of the biggest commitments you’ll ever make, and that finding the right contractor to trust it with can feel daunting. That’s why we’ve built our process around complete transparency, direct accountability, and the kind of attention to detail that ensures your finished home is everything you imagined it would be.

Injecting character throughout

Years of working with heritage properties has given us an instinct for where character comes from - the materials, the proportions, the details. We build that in to every aspect of your project.

One team managing the whole project

Roofing, groundwork, carpentry, brickwork - all managed directly by us. No handoffs, no gaps in accountability, one team responsible for every aspect of the project.

Systems to keep everything on track

Our SharePoint portal gives you full visibility of your project at every stage - schedules, drawings, and communications all in one place. No surprises, no chasing for updates.

Bespoke carpentry tying it all together

When you're building from scratch, you shouldn't have to compromise on the finish. Our on-site team crafts custom joinery to fit your home perfectly elevating every detail for a finish that wows.

Project focus: A new home in Nettlebed

This project is a good example of what building new with character can look like. Traditional red brick, hand-made clay peg tiles, and period detailing on the exterior give the house a presence that many new builds don’t have. Inside, the finish takes on a contemporary tone – a vaulted living space with apex glazing and roof lights, oak joinery throughout, and bifold doors opening onto the garden. Traditional on the outside, beautifully contemporary within.

FAQs

What warranties do you provide on a new build?

New builds require a more comprehensive warranty than renovation work. As standard you can expect building control sign-off, materials and workmanship warranties, and structural warranties for the building itself. Insurance-backed warranties are also available where required by mortgage lenders. We’ll talk you through the full details as part of your quote, ensuring you have everything you need for complete peace of mind.

In addition we have a set of service garuntees that we are rigorously committed to.

It helps to have plans in place before we can quote accurately, but if you’re at an earlier stage we’re happy to have an initial conversation and can point you towards architects we’ve worked with and trust.
There are, and for some projects a large volume contractor might be the right fit. Where we excel though is as a specialist team that takes on a carefully managed number of projects at any one time. This means your project gets proper attention from people who genuinely care about creating something unique and characterful. Our systems and processes match those of much larger contractors – but we’re small enough to give you a very personal experience which is the major reason we haven’t looked to expand beyond what we are.

Yes. Barn conversions require exactly the kind of expertise we apply to all our heritage work – understanding old structures, knowing what to preserve and what to change, integrating modern living into historic bones, and navigating conservation compliance where required. Our background in heritage buildings means we’re well placed to handle the structural complexity these projects present, and our bespoke carpentry team handles the irregular spaces they inevitably involve. If you have a project in mind, we’d love to hear about it.

Yes. And eco homes don’t have to mean bland, box-like buildings. It’s perfectly possible to build a home that is highly energy efficient whilst still having real character and warmth. Integrating sustainable systems, high-performance insulation, and energy-efficient heating into a traditionally built home is perfectly possible. If this is something you’re considering, we’d love to have a conversation.
